The growing phenomenon of temporary exhibitions and the increased demand for artifacts and artwork belonging to Italy’s extremely rich cultural heritage has made the need to ensure their safety and preservation during transport and exposition a priority.
This has led the Italian ministry of cultural affairs (MIBACT) and the Italian ministry of education and research (MIUR) to sponsor the Safe-Art Project, an initiative directed and coordinated by Arch. Gisella Capponi and Dott. Elisabetta Giani of ISCR and Prof. Chiara Petrioli of the Computer Science department of “La Sapienza”.
WSENSE is the technical partner and provider.
WSENSE solutions for Cultural Heritage leverage the experience developed in this project and comply to conservation requirements. As part of this ongoing project we monitored the transportation of the Narciso from the Galleria d’Arte antica di Roma, the Livia orante from the Vatican Museums, the Cratere di Eufonio (Euphronios krater) of the Museo di Villa Giulia di Roma, and frescos detached from the Ercolano site from the Archaeological Museum of Naples.
